platoon

In the movie platoon I saw a lot of blood and violence why is that a surprised because it was a war film. During the Vietnam War many soldiers and innocent lives were lost it was really sad. The director was war veterans himself we don’t really know what actually happened in Vietnam but when people watch the movie they think all the events really happened. War itself it a big word to digest because a lot of people are against it like me and there are others that are with having a war. The soldier’s risks there lives to fight for our country it’s not always easy physically, emotionally, and mentally that is the only credit I give the soldier’s. Well some stores sell army color shirts, hats and pants just to make a profit and other imitations of classic war films like platoon. War is a part of history because there have been a lot of them for centuries and many of them were revolutionary like the Vietnam War and civil war. MASH was a show about a group of people living on army base during a war. Even though it was a comedy/ drama it showed the viewer how they deal with a war. The media make war sound and look good and fabraticte everything as usual that is why we have to listen to more than one source so you can have different things you can talk about. In my opinion the Iraq war is the one that cost the most money that is why things are going up like gas and many other people are going broker than usual. The world is messed up and the war needs to stop because many people are dying.

New york performing arts 2008

I went to the NYPA center Wednesday it was hard to find because they had up walls and they were doing construction there. When I went inside of the place I thought it was very nice and quiet. There was a lot of security all over the building just like the library on Bryant Park but hey you have to keep the place safe. In the beginning I was by myself so I went into the Jerome Robbins room and I saw a lot of pictures, video, and books. As I was watching commentary about him I saw a few classmates like: Anthony, Usman, Farzan, and Tushing, walking up the stairs and I literary ran to catch up with them. We went on different floors to check out the place on the first floor i saw the information desk and computers that people were using and the Jerome Robbins room. In the back I saw different pictures of pictures of plays displayed on the wall. I can't believe that people still have VHS in the year 2008. I'm saying this because I saw different tapes of movies like shaft. On the second floor I saw books about movies, plays and television shows like Annie the musical and Saturday night live. Also, I saw DVD’s like six degrees of separation not the one with the actor Will Smith. There is another computer lab that I saw people using and photographs of dancers and there was on picture that was taken by Louis Greenfield of a Black woman doing a movement of dance. That blew my mind away why? Because I like seeing nice photographs of people, objects, and designs. On the third floor there are books on contemporary theatre, film and television from volume 2-81. I saw magazines like billboard and ne-yo an r@b artist was on the cover looking really nice. I saw another picture of the Mozart family in 1780 by Joseph Lacroix. It just reminds me of togetherness sometime I wish i have that but anyway on a lighter note I thought it was beautiful. These artists that draw pictures of people, and take pictures are very talented. I want to be in an industry like that so people can see my work just like everything else I have to handle criticism from other people and deal with competition. To finish of everything I liked it and the area it is around.

My spring vacation 2008

My blog is going to be about my spring break vacation I had so much fun but it could have been better. I was busy doing the media-midterm it took me two days thursady and friday and on saturday I send the papper to lou. I had fun on tuesday I went out with a couple of friends and on Wedesday I was taking a walk with my other frienda and walked around prospeck park. On Sunday I bought a book on graffiti art and it is very intresting because i'm really into that. I'm going to use that book for my research project and don't want anybody to take my ideas. That week the weather was nice and a lot of children and adults were outside.

Libary memories in Manhattan, New York

Last wedenesday my class went on a trip to The New York Public Libary on 42 street bryant park. A fine gentleman showed us a tour of the libary and the part I like the most on the tour is the art on the celing. That blew my mind away the paintings reminded me of the midevil ages when a lot of artist like michelangelo and devinci were popular for their work. The class were split up into groups and sent across the steet to the take out libary we had to go on each floor and find out what kind of books they have. On the third floor there are mostly art, lanuage, litature books it contains poetry,referance, computer catlog, dictionary, reviews, photographs, and painters it is used for reasearch for artists. The second floor contains job information, education, health information, book review, and college books. On the fifth floor there are books on psycology, philosophy, biographies, videos, movies and it is useed to study history and people. The first floor has travel books, music, fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, and dvds. The forth floor there are computers and people doing research or websurfing.

What is possible for me and my family can do to help save the enivorment we can use less energy why? because our electricity bill is very high and my mother is pulling her hair out to by telling me and my brothers to stop using so much electricy especially late night. But one thing my family does that helps the enviroment is by recycling plastic bottles, cans, ceral boxes, anything that can't fit into a garbage can. It's not easy as it seems to just automaticaly recycle out of nowhere because at first it will be hard and your whole lifestyle. In the world we live in recycling is a good thing because polution is eveywhere weather it's a little or a lot. My family can help save the people who live on this planet and not pass mounds of troubles to their children and chlidren by teaching them how going green is not bad and show example by doing it themselves. There is a lot of polution in the world and animals are dying it only takes one person to start to change the world and the rest will follow.

Museunm of natural history 2008

The things I saw at the museum was a lot of exhibits about animals like: polo bears, raccoons, and dinosaur’s. I've been to the museum 3 years in a row 5th grade 6th grade and 7th grade so I know my way around the place. My favorite part of the museum is the big bang why? Because it's the most interesting part of the museum. Also there was a lot of high school and elemtary students but they had to stay together as a group. Unlike us we had the chance to spread apart and explore the museum ourselves. The connection between the museum and the film is that they both talk about the environment (global warming) and how us humans are destroying it. The one that is more believable is the film why? Because it shows you graphics and documents. My observation between the film, museum, the reading and the theme of the cluster: Truth, Lies and Videotape are that they are apart of the media. The media has a lot of tricks up their sleeve so you have to be the one to figure out the real deal. Well nature is transformed into media by being exposed that is basically it. Most things you see in general is lie a trap why? Because they use siblimal messages to get your attention. We see that all the time and it's very sad and many journalists risk their lives trying to seek the truth about a lot of things in our world.

Gnosticism/religious freedom/history

Gnosticism is basically about greek and religious information that people in the 19 century believed in. It united in the teachings of the divine soul of humans as so it says on wikipedia. I'm not to big on religion but it is very international and meaningful to a lot of people. This relates to the matrix because it deals with sprituality and philosophy. It was so popular that it was turned into a school so children can pratice it and become good at it. In the matrix had a lot of life and death situtions that neo had to choose. So Gnosticism has a whole lot of information that people can look up if you are feeling down about yourself and you need spirtuality.
